Welcome

The session was opened with presentation of the ict4water cluster and its main activities. The history of a cluster was briefly introduced. The projects concerned were: UrbanWater, iWidget, Waterp, ICEEWATER, EFFINET, DAIAD, ISS-EWATUS, SMARTH2O, WATERNOMICS, WISDOM, KINDRA, WATERINNEU, BlueSCities, FREEWAT, WIDES, CYTO-WATER, POWERSTEP, iMETland, SUBSOL and CENTAUR.


H2020 Funding Opportunities

During the session policy and administrative issues were presented by several speakers. EU project officer Grażyna Wojcieszko, presented the policy issues for the water. Next she presented DSM from the European Commission perspective including Digitizing European Industry, European Cloud Initiative, Priorities for ICT Standardisation and E-government Action Plan. EASME representative, Evdokia Achilleos, presented funding opportunities for water. She underlined that water is not the topic of 2016-2017 perspective. EU project officer Aude Glenisson presented the inducement prize programme and its objectives for zero power water infrastructure monitoring. Juan Carlos Garcia presented global funding opportunities for water challenges.


ICT4WATER Roadmap updates necessary for Digital Single Market

The ICT4Water roadmap updates necessary for Digital Single Market were presented. The conclusion was that necessary actions should include unification and standardization activities. The participants agreed to send the description of the emerging topics, that would contribute to the new roadmaps version, to the rapporteur assigned by the European Commission.


Presentations/Round Table of EU funded projects

The first generation projects and their major objectives were briefly introduced. Next, the most recent water related H2020 projects, from the FP7 ICT- 2013, H2020- Water 4a and H2020 Water 1a calls, discussed their real environment experience, defined future needs, exchange opportunities and emerging topics, i.e: lack of labeled open data, lack of accurate water audits (studies on what consumers do with their water), optimization of water consumption by scheduling work of the home devices, the need of the supply side optimization including specific plans of sustainable pumping, social media problematic in terms of water.
