WIDEST project (Water Innovation through Dissemination Exploitation of Smart Technologies) started its activities on February 1st, 2015. As a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) funded by the EU research and innovation programme Horizon 2020, WIDEST envisions a thriving and interconnected Information and Communication Technology (ICT) network for the whole Water Community. WIDEST’s main objective is to promote the dissemination and exploitation of the results of European Union funded activities in this area, along with all the relevant advances achieved in the sector.

The consortium of the project is formed by six partners from five countries of the European Union, which empower the initiative with relevant experience, thanks to their high expertise in previous funded actions and industry, as well as their broad networking influence and reach: Barcelona Digital Centro Tecnológico (BDigital, coordinator), University of Exeter (UNEXE), Centro Andaluz de Investigaciones del Agua (CETaqua Andalucía), International Water Association(IWA), European Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform AISBL (WssTP) and the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS).

On the 23rd and 24th of February, the WIDEST project held its kick-off meeting at BDigital’s premises in Barcelona. For two days, representatives of all partners reviewed the project work plan and established common criteria for carrying out the activities so that the achievement of the CSA’s objectives is ensured.
